CAL: Last night's match vs LOLAMIRITE for our 2nd CAL match of the season went our way. We beat LOLAMIRITE 22-8 on de_dust2. The Silent Platoon consisted of Smoke, Stealth, Snail, Darkenshadow and Flipkid.
We started off on T side with a few problems with Flipkid lagging the server, that's how fat he is - his mere presence can lag an entire NFO server. After all the problems with Flipkid and some LOLAMIRITE team members being disconnected we were finally underway.
Apparently no one wants to do the "mexican rain" anymore, even though it has always worked in the past. We won T side 9-6.
CT side went our way too with a score of 13-2. Some of the LOLAMIRITE players left early for unknown reasons, but we played out and all tried to pitch in to get Snail a kill - he still came out with 0 kill - next time!
Good game to LOLAMIRITE and good luck with the rest of the CAL season.
TWL: On the TWL side of things, we challenged GunYaDown who declined our challenge. So we are currently on the 118th rung. We are now challenging 0uter Heaven and waiting for their response.
January 29, 2007
The CAL regular season has started and we are off to a good start. Unlike some past seasons where things didn't start off smoothly, or starting the season with a team nade at spawn on the very first round on the very first match, we played well and got the win.
Matches: Good game to the Totally Cool Boys, it was a close match that went into overtime on de_cpl_mill. Great game to the Silent Platoon team who consisted of Darkenshadow who had to walk his dog - that's why he was late, Smoke who was ready as always, Deslock who TCB's server didn't like in th OT and locked him out for a few minutes, Stealth with his freaking out ping, and Flipkid who was late because he was watching Heroes.
What mattered in the end was the team play, after all that debate over the "Taco" or the "Pussy," after the server locking out players because they were "too good," and even after the disappearing act by one of the team.
Good luck with the rest of the season Totally Cool Boys.

mIRC? We haven't used this in ages, but we now have our old channel back and have a new channel too.
#sp.silentplatoon and #silentplatoon.com - thanks Katlyn and zerowned for helping out - great admins! GJ & GG
Match Results: The Silent Platoon wins over American Xpress in their first preseason match in CAL (2nd scheduled preseason match, we joined late). Unfortunately American Xpress has disbanded and we for the forfeit win against them. Too bad because Snail was really excited about playing in the match! He even stopped watching American Idol ... Flipkid put down his 24 hour meal to play the match ... Darkenshadow stopped drinking for an hour to try and sober up ... Stealth had to stop the sex talk and last but not least, Darren had to turn the TV off and miss Miss Congeniality II.
League: We have rejoined CAL and also rejoined TWL. We look forward to playing competitively and to have fun playing as a team in the upcoming leagues. Will we be able to regain the #1 spot on TWL - we'll have to wait and see, currently we are rung #281. If you want to scrim against us please visit the forums and post accordingly.

Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Another update, it just took me over 6 months to do it - been busy with real life things and hopefully things will ease up and I can get back into the swing of things.
Public Server: There is a Counter-Strike Source public server up again that have Live Stats running. Up for some pub fun then come join us! It's a Nuclear Fallout Hyperaccelerated 16 slot server, so it's one of the best servers out there. If you have any questions or suggestions drop by the forums and let us know.

SP LAN: We had our annual SP LAN this past weekend, and Wannabekilla hosted it again in NJ. Thanks for setting up the LAN along with Met, CC, Boogz and whomever else helped put it together.
This year was different since there were a good number of people who have been busy with other things and haven't been able to play CS or any game for that matter. The turnout is usually about 20 or more people but this year there weren't that many that stayed the entire weekend - some stayed from Friday night until Saturday and others came on Saturday and left on Sunday due to prior commitments.
Nonetheless, the LAN was great and it was really good playing CS, especially with some of my favorite CS players EVER! Check the forums for more recaps on the LAN and some pictures too.

My promise of updating the site did not come
to pass, but I will try to update the website as much as possible
with the latest updates and news. The forums are up to date
and have helpful members who can help with whatever issues
you might have.
Good game tonight to all those who played in the match against Unusual Suspects. We started out on CT side on de_contra and were able to hold it down against a good team. Final score on CT side 11-4. During the second half we were able to pull together as a team despite a few tk's and miscalls, we also won the T side of the map with a score of 12-3.
Thank you again to all those who played tonight, it was a very well played match and great teamwork.

CAL CSS-O SEASON 5
So here we are on season 5 of CAL CSS. We played two preseason matches and we lost both, no excuses but the maps were ones that we never played on and haven't had a chance to practice.
With the regular season starting today we are looking forward to competing this season and hopefully making it into the playoffs. Our first season match is today but the team sure are scheduled to play only has 4 people on their roster, so we're taking a forfeit win and looking for a makeup match ASAP.
Hopefully this season CAL doesn't put us up against teams that forfeit win and then at the end of the season put us up against Team3D caliber teams like they have done for the past two seasons.
We have a solid team this year with a few additions. With some practice and some teamwork we'll be a great team this season, but we can't forget about having that first round team nade from Skribblez - even though we are competing, we gotta have fun!
There's still room on the roster for this season, so if you're looking to compete and get your game on, sign up on the forums and let us know. You might be playing with the only squad who can be laughing ridiculously during a loss.

UPKEEP
WoW - it's been a while since I made a post about donations :) but we can still definately use the donations. Right now we need to finance the Ventrilo Server, Website and Private Server.
In the future, should there be enough donations we will restart the SP Public server that everyone soooooo dearly loved! But the expense we had from the NFO Pub we had was way more than the donations coming in, so we had to take her down.
I would like to thank everyone who has been very supportive during the 3 years. Thank you for donating and making the community what it is and what is will be.
The donation page has subscriptions should you want to donate on a monthly basis, you don't have to donate a lot, I even setup a $1/month donation link!
www.silentplatoon.com/donate
Don't be afraid to donate, it's for a good cause! We're one of the last friendly and fun CSS squad out there who aren't full of ourselves because we are just so damn |33t.
Any amount will help and again thank you for everyone who has donated in the past and those who have signed up for the subscription.

Relationships: Andy (aka
chomp, bomb!, andy) gives relationship advice to other CSS
players. His advice, stay away from members of the opposite
sex - relationships are bad for you and will cause your time
to be greatly used up. Stay single and play CSS with your
friends! If you want more advice don't be afraid to ask him
on the forums!
CAL: Good game to Counter
Strike Death House tonight. The Silent Platoon wins 28-2
bringing our CAL record up to 3-3
for this tough season.
Public Server: We are
looking for a clan that is looking for a public server to
call their home and who would be willing to split the cost
for full admin privies. Right now, the server populates pretty
well, but with two clans on the server at once, the more traffic
would be drawn in and the more people to consistently play.
Roster: Drunkenmunkey
is taking a short break from CSS while he takes care of real
life things. Good luck to the things he is trying to achieve
and hope to see you in April!
The return of The Creep?! Could it be ... we shall see. Rumors
have it that he is in search of a higher end PC that will
play CSS, BF2 and other games. Stay tuned for more information
about The Creep's possible return! G.I. Joe cars for CSS ...
seems interesting.
Contest: We are having
a contest on the public server that will reward the person
who gets up to 1st place on the stats (www.silentplatoon.com/stats)
and stays there for a minimum of 3 days. The winner will receive
$50 if they are non SP, and for SP members the pot is $25.
Come into he public server and try to dethrown Andy from first
place.
League: CAL has been
rough for us this season, but it seems as if we're making
our moves and have a few wins under our belts. This season
will be a good way to see how things will shape up for next
season and TWL.

LAN: Continued today
and more paricipants have come to join in on the gaming, leeching
and eating. Kitty, Flipkid, Pure and
Blue have come. Some pictures are up on the forums
and more will be going up. There are also some video files
that will be posted up on the site. Enjoy the pictures, videos
and the live webcam!
Technical Difficulties:
Some technical difficulties occured today when the additional
people showed up. They could not connect to the network/internet
with their router connected to the hub. Then no one was able
to connect to the admin on the router. The solution was to
buy a switch that needed no configuration and after about
an hour or two, everyone was gaming in Counter Strike Source,
Battlefield 2 and World of Warcraft (along with the file leeching
from each other, especially our "file host" Magnetman).
January 06, 2006
LAN: The 3rd annual
SP LAN started today signifying the 3rd year that SP has
been together. The hardcore ones who showed up tonight were
Deslock, Magnetman, EDM, Enforcer,
Metlra, Wannabekilla, Darkenshadow and
Crazedclown.
Darkenshadow has created a live webcam through yahoo
messenger of the LAN. Add DarkenShadow78
to your yahoo messenger and you will be able to view it. Enjoy!

TWL: Silent Platoon wins
over Arizona Pwnage 16-2
on de_dust2. Drunk, Chomp, Free, Darken
and Smoke were the starting five tonight. Good job
and good game to AP. Our record in TWL is now 5-1.
We have moved up into the 35th position!

CAL: First Preseason
match is with
No Remorse, this will be on de_nuke. Details of the match
time, date and place to be announced soon. Check the site
and the forums for updates!
FORUMS: They are back
up and running, there is a little bit of slowness from time
to time, but we're still trying to figure that one out. They
are working though, so go post away!
January 03, 2006
WEBSITE:
We are currently working on the website to bring you the
finished product with everything on in working order. Check
back daily for more updates to the site, also check the forums
for more updates and info on the website (once they are fixed).
SERVER:
As stated in the announcements we have a new GriffinRUN server
that has Full Bullet Registry and is at 100 tick.
We tested this server out before we bought it and were amazed
at how the each bullet that is supposed to land on the other
players, do land. I guess the FBR that GriffinRUN is talking
about actually works? Come into the server and try it for
yourself, I don't think you'll be complaining about "registry"
on the SP Server.
STATS: For
you stats whores out there - this is the place for you. Aside
from the server specs, we have also added Live Stats!
These live stats are HLStatsX and they update with
every action, kill/death that happens. See if you can make
it into the top10 and take the top spot from ||sp.chomp||
I think you get about 20 points just for killing him ... so
go get him! One other note about the stats, do
not TK! When you kill a player on your team, accidentally
or on purpose you will lose 50 points from your stats. This
adds up pretty quickly, since I do it a lot - I went from
5th place to 8th place in about 4 rounds after 3 TKs.
Go to the link on top for the stats or (for
the lazy ones) www.silentplatoon.com/stats
FORUMS:
The forums are currently running very slow (if they are
running at all). We have been experiencing some problems with
the forums (maybe there are too many posts!?) and are working
with our provider Host-Tec
to remedy the problems.
January 02, 2006
TWL: Current
record is 4 wins and 1
loss. We are scheduled to face Arizona
Pwnage on Thursday, January 5th at 11:00pm.
We are ranked #49 and are making our way up
the TWL ladder. One of the goals to regain our position in
the top 10 of TWL as we were less than a year ago in CS 1.6
and possibly take the #1 spot back.
CAL: After
taking one season off of CAL due to roster issues, we are
coming back this season and have a solid team once again.
We will be competing in the Counter Strike Source Open Division.
CAL Season 4 will start off with the pre-season on January
9th - the match schedules will be released something after
January 2nd.
Below is the CAL map schedule:
